Postini or SpamWeeder Bagged Filtering + VPS Mail Bagging + VPS Email Continuity
VPS Mail Bagging + VPS Email Continuity with bagged filtering provides a complete disaster recovery solution for our clients whose email backup requirements exceed Webservio’s shared mail bagging limits and for administrators who want to retain full control of their email backup solution. The solution provides one virtual private server for mail bagging and another for email continuity. The solution includes bagged anti-spam and virus filtering for multiple domains and users. The only specific restriction is the amount of disk space allocated to each VPS. This solution is suitable for those companies who have multiple domains, many users, and who utilize any kind of anti-spam/virus filtering firewall or device within their network. To illustrate the solution the diagram is divided into two parts.
Normal Email Server Connectivity
When your primary mail server is functioning properly, all messages flow from your correspondents through the internet and filter through your company’s anti-spam/virus filtering device/firewall. This device may be an IronPort, Barracuda, or any other internal filtering system. After filtering, the emails are sent to your company's primary email server where they are delivered to the proper employee inbox.
No Email Server Connectivity
When your email server is down due to regularly scheduled maintenance, power outages, or any other problem, the messages coming to your email server will not flow to your company’s firewall, but will instead flow to Postini or Webservio's SpamWeeder filtering systems. This provides Anti-Spam/Virus filtering for bagged messages.
Clean emails are then routed to the VPS mail bagging service where the original message is stored. System administrators may view and flush the email queue, read and delete messages, set different parameters and add multiple domains names to be protected.
If the message recipient has an Email Continuity account configured, a “working copy” of the message is created and sent to the recipient's Email Continuity inbox. Your employees who are configured within the Email Continuity system may login and continue to send and receive web-basede emails, or employees can pull the “working copies” via POP3 into office workstations and continue to send and receive emails.
When sending emails from the Email Continuity accounts, your correspondents will view the emails as having been sent from your domain name, and not a Webservio domain. In addition, sent messages will also be copied to the VPS Mail Bagging service. This allows a complete email history to be delivered to your primary mail server when it becomes available.
When your email server is back online, all original bagged messages and copies of messages sent from the email continuity accounts are delivered. Your mail server then distributes the messages to the proper employee's inbox.
As the name suggests, this service provides Virtual Private Server environments for both our Mail Bagging and Email Continuity services. Anti-spam/Virus filtering is completed for incoming bagged messages only. As a result, your network resources are not consumed with processing spam when your primary mail server becomes available. In addition, the VPS Email Continuity system is scalable and can be configured to maintain a history of emails for your employees to reference during primary mail server downtime.
