Google terminated all Postini services on June 15, 2015. The filtering service has been combined into the G Suite (Google Apps) offering.

Webservio offers G Suite (Google Apps) service in addition to a wide selection of other email security options, including Mimecast, Proofpoint, and SpamWeeder Premium. We also offer a Postini Migration service for anyone still on the old Postini system.

Please contact us if you are unsure which solution would be best-suited to meet your company's requirements or if you have any other questions.

What Is Postini Anti-Spam Filtering?

Postini® is a mail filtering service that checks emails for spam and viruses before they reach your inbox. The Postini system is separate from our client networks and utilizes facilities on both East and West Coasts.  This allows Postini to provide a 99.999% uptime guarantee.

Postini makes your email servers more secure, compliant, and productive.

  • Block email threats before they reach your organization.
  • Eliminate the need for the ongoing patching and updates required by appliance or software solutions.
  • Use cloud services to reduce maintenance, conserve bandwidth, and improve the performance of your existing email infrastructure.

Postini provides mail server security by using a filtering system with multiple layers of threat protection. By using the leading anti-spam technology, Postini prevents more than 99% of spam, viruses, phishing, and other invasive practices from reaching your network.

Postini works by sheltering your mail exchange (MX) record from the public so that spammers do not “see” your mail server and are therefore less likely to infiltrate it. Any messages sent to your MX record must filter through the Postini system before they are routed to your email inbox.

In milliseconds, Postini determines if the messages are clean. It delivers the acceptable mail, rejects blatant spam, and holds suspect messages in quarantine. Users may then view the suspect emails through a Web-based message center and decide whether to discard the held messages or release them to their inbox.

With the Postini Web-based interface, senders may be accepted or blocked at the domain and user levels. Extensive administrative capabilities allow for alias and user additions along with management of settings, such as language, filtering levels, and user access.

Postini is also a viable solution for organizations using filtering devices within their own networks.  Because Postini is located outside your network, threats can be stopped beforehand.  As a result, your bandwidth is optimized and the lifespan of both filtering device and mail server is increased.

As with Postini Email Security, the Enterprise edition shelters your mail exchange (MX) record from the outside world so that spammers do not “see” your mail server (see 1A on diagram) and are less likely to infiltrate it.

Any messages that are sent to your MX record must first filter through the Postini Enterprise Email Security system (2A) before they are routed to your email inbox. Your organization is protected from the latest threats by Postini's Threat Identification Network® (2B). In milliseconds, this system determines if the messages are clean. It delivers the acceptable mail, rejects blatant spam, and holds suspect messages in quarantine. Users may then view the suspect emails through a Web-based message center and decide whether to discard the held messages or release them to their inbox.

With the Postini Enterprise Email Security Web-based interface, senders may be accepted or blocked at the domain and user levels. Extensive administrative capabilities allow for alias and user additions along with management of settings, such as language, filtering levels, attachment filtering, and user access. Industry heuristics may also be utilized for less rigorous filtering in accordance with your organization's needs.

The system can provide you with a MX failover record to provide email redundancy in the event your primary mail server becomes unavailable. This failover record will be listed only within the Postini Delivery Manager settings, so that it acts as your backup MX record (3A). Messages sent to valid email addresses within your company during the server downtime will be sent to this failover system and stored until your server is brought back online. No emails will be lost or bounced back to the sender!

Postini Enterprise Email Security also offers outgoing message filtering based on content and/or sender (4A). Any suspect messages can be routed to an administrator's quarantine for review.
